AN ACT TO REQUIRE ALL LIFE INSURANCE COMPANIES TO PROVIDE, UPON REQUEST, TO ANY APPLICANT DENIED A LIFE INSURANCE POLICY NOTIFICATION OF THE REASON FOR SUCH DENIAL; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:
SECTION 1. (1) As used in this section, unless the context requires otherwise:
(a) "Life insurance companies" means all companies selling life insurance within the State of Mississippi.
(b) "Notification" means a report outlining reasons for denial of insurance policy written to the applicant or applicant's physician.
(c) "Applicant" means anyone applying for life insurance.
(d) "Life insurance policy" means a contract of insurance on a person's life or an increase in an existing contract.
(2) All life insurance companies selling life insurance within the State of Mississippi shall provide to any applicant denied a life insurance policy notification of the reason for such denial upon that applicant's request.
SECTION 2. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after July 1, 1999.
